To change anything, a file would have to go inside Free Fire’s own data folder, which Android locks for other apps. Every “headshot file” therefore ends up asking for something more: a special app, extra permissions, or a modified version of the game. That request is where the danger is.

These files travel under many names: ff headshot file, config file for headshot, auto headshot file, file for Samsung, file for iPhone, OBB headshot file. The promise is always the same, skip the training and hit all red.

Where a config file would have to go

An Android game keeps its settings inside a private folder. Since Android 11, ordinary apps and file managers can no longer read or write the data folders of other apps. That rule exists precisely so one app cannot tamper with another.

So a real file cannot simply be copied into Free Fire from your downloads. To get around the lock, the tutorials send you down one of these paths:

A helper app that asks for broad file access, accessibility access or permission to “display over other apps”.

A modified Free Fire APK with the “file” already built in, installed from outside Google Play.

Root or a virtual space app that runs the game inside another app.

Each of these is far more dangerous than the file itself. An app with accessibility access can read what you type, including passwords. A modified APK is a different game client, and Garena’s anti-cheat is built to detect it.

What about iPhone

On iPhone, apps cannot touch each other’s files at all, and apps come only from the App Store. A “headshot file for iOS” is usually a configuration profile or a link to a site. Installing an unknown profile can let a stranger control network settings on the device. Free Fire on iPhone is changed only from its own menu.

What the files actually contain

People who open these downloads usually find one of three things:

What you download

What is inside

Risk

Zip “config”

A text file with sensitivity numbers, or nothing useful

Low on its own; the link pages are full of ads

APK “headshot file”

An app that is not from Garena

Malware, account theft, permanent ban

Password-locked zip

A survey or app install to “get the password”

Data and money lost

The harmless case is the zip with numbers. Those numbers are just sensitivity values, the same ones you can type into the game yourself in a minute.

What Garena does when a file changes the game

Garena treats any change to game files or memory as cheating. Accounts caught with modified clients are banned, and in serious cases the device is blocked too. Diamonds and items on a banned account are not returned. The “anti-ban” label on a file means nothing: there is no file that hides a modified client from the anti-cheat.

Many headshot file pages also sell or link to panels and regedit tools. What those do to an account is covered in detail in our guide to Panel FF and all red headshots.

The legal “config” that does raise your headshots

Everything a file claims to set, the game lets you set by hand. This is the config worth having:

1. Sensitivity in Settings

Open Settings, then Sensitivity. General controls how fast the camera turns; Red Dot, 2x and 4x control each scope; Free Look moves the view without turning. Raise General and Red Dot until a fast drag up lands on the head of a training bot without going over it.

2. Graphics and frame rate

A steady frame rate does more for aim than any file. Choose the graphics level your device holds without drops, and turn on High FPS if it is offered. Close other apps before playing.

3. Fire button size and place

In the HUD settings, make the fire button big and put it where your thumb rests. A button you hit without looking means your aim does not move when you shoot.

4. Crosshair at head height

Most headshots come from where you hold your crosshair before the fight. Keep it at chest-to-head height while moving, so the drag needed is tiny.

5. Ten minutes in Training

The Training Ground has bots, every gun and no cost. Ten minutes of close range drags with an SMG or shotgun before ranked does more than any download.

If you already installed a headshot file

Uninstall any APK or helper app that came with it, and delete the downloaded files.

Remove permissions you granted: accessibility, display over other apps, install unknown apps.

Reinstall Free Fire from Google Play or the App Store.

Change the password of the account linked to the game and turn on two-step verification.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official Free Fire config file

No. Garena does not release config files. All official settings are inside the game menu.

Can a headshot file work without root

Not on the original game. Without root, it needs a modified APK or an invasive helper app, and both are detectable.

Do OBB headshot files work after an update

Updates replace the game data, and a changed OBB is a modified client. It is a fast way to lose the account.

Is copying a pro player’s sensitivity allowed

Yes. Typing numbers into the Sensitivity menu is an ordinary setting, not a file.

A Free Fire headshot config file promises all red without training.
