The next Free Fire MAX update is OB56, the version that follows OB55, which is the one live now. Garena has not announced its release date yet. The leaks link it to the second chapter of the Naruto collaboration, and the clearest sign of the date will be the opening of the OB56 Advance Server, which always comes a couple of weeks before the update.
Every OB is a full version of the game: new characters, weapon balance, map changes, events and a new Booyah Pass cycle around it. That is why people start searching for the free fire next update, the ff new update, the ob56 update date or the free fire max update weeks in advance.

How Garena times an OB update
Free Fire updates follow a steady rhythm of roughly two months. The previous cycle shows it well: the OB52 Advance Server ran from December 25, 2025 to January 9, 2026, and OB52 reached everyone on January 14, 2026. The test server opens, runs for about two weeks, closes, and a few days later the update lands.
On update day, servers usually go into maintenance for several hours and the game asks you to download the new version from the Play Store or App Store. If the store does not show the update yet, wait: rollouts reach regions at different times.
Naruto Chapter 2: what the leaks show
The first Naruto collaboration brought Naruto, Hinata and the rest of the Hidden Leaf into the game, and we covered how players got Hinata free back then. The leaks for the second chapter point to the Akatsuki side:
- A “Choose Your Bundle” system again, with a free Konan bundle or a free Orochimaru bundle.
- A Naruto Chapter 2 Mini Pass with exclusive cosmetics.
- Premium limited bundles for Itachi Uchiha, Pain, Obito Uchiha and Madara Uchiha.
- Minato Namikaze possibly in the Mystery Shop.
These are leaks from data files and creators, not an official announcement. Names and prices can change before launch, and some leaked items never appear at all.
The OB56 Advance Server
The Advance Server is a separate test version where selected players try the next update early and earn Diamonds by reporting bugs. Registration opens on Garena’s official Advance Server site, and only players with an activation code can log in.
Our step-by-step guide to the Free Fire Advance Server explains the registration and the activation code. If you want to know how the beta differs from the normal game, see Free Fire beta.
Fake OB56 downloads
Every OB brings a wave of pages offering an “OB56 APK”, “Free Fire new update download” or an Advance Server APK before Garena opens it. Some ask for your Free Fire login, others push an app with a different name. There is only one real update: the one in your official store on release day. The Advance Server APK only comes from Garena’s own Advance Server site, and it is useless without an activation code.
Get ready for update day
- Free up storage: an OB update downloads new resources on top of the game.
- Link your account to Google, Facebook or another login, so a reinstall never costs you your progress.
- Spend expiring tokens from current events before the maintenance starts.
- Save Diamonds if you want a Naruto Chapter 2 bundle on day one.
When the OB56 Advance Server opens, count about two weeks plus a few days: that is your Free Fire next update date. Until Garena posts the official date, any countdown you see is a guess.
